An updated version of the Dimapur police website was re-launched today. The website – www.dimapurpolice.in – which was down for sometime was repackaged and launched with new features.
DGP, Nagaland, TJ Longkumer officially re-launched it at a programme held at the office of the Commissioner of Police (CP).
The Dimapur police described its updated website as informative with interactive user interface, “which will be the first of its kind to be provided by any district police in Nagaland.”
In addition to the existing features, it has included a new application window through which citizens will now be able to apply for “police verification” or ‘character certificate’ online. “A citizen can fill his or her details online via the website at any time without having to visit the office of the CP and the Police Station. All the services will be delivered online and the applicant needs to come only once to the office for final receipt of the certificate.”
The brain behind the website, ACP (Special Branch) Kilemtoshi Jamir added that a person using the facility has to provide phone number while uploading the details. “After completing the application process, an SMS will be delivered to the registered mobile number acknowledging receipt of the application,” he said, while stating that it will be followed by another SMS informing the person to come and collect the certificate. This service will have a targeted service delivery time of 3-4 working days.
Further, a person will no longer be required to file an FIR at the police station for loss of mobile phone. ‘Lost Report’ can now be filed online through the website. The person in concern has to provide an alternate phone number while filling up the required data fields. An SMS will be sent to the provided number which can be displayed on demand to the service provider for availing a replacement SIM.
Other features include ‘Wanted Persons’ and ‘Missing Persons’ tabs wherein citizens can aid in identifying people on the run from the law or tracing missing persons.
It includes a ‘Contact Us’ window through which a citizen can send complaints, suggestions or information. The Dimapur police guaranteed anonymity and confidentiality to any person using this window.
An ‘Archives’ section and a link to the Dimapur police Facebook page are also featured in the website.
The programme happened to coincide with DGP Longkumer’s maiden visit to the Dimapur Police Commissionerate since he took over in June. The DGP acknowledged the achievements of the Dimapur police but also highlighted certain challenges and the need to strategise and upgrade the existing systems of policing.
