Dimapur: St Mary’s HSS students join Junior Red Cross

Dimapur, May 8 (MExN): The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Dimapur District Branch celebrated World Red Cross Day on the theme ‘Keeping Humanity Alive’ in the auditorium of St Mary’s Hr Sec School (SMHSS) with Tinojongshi Chang, Deputy Commissioner and President of Dimapur Red Cross as the chief guest. 

The Dimapur DC exhorted the students of SMHSS who became Junior Red Cross members on the day to carry forward the flag of Red Cross afar for the humanitarian services. Humanity, Impartiality, Independence, Neutrality, Unity, Universality and Volunteerism are the virtues which must be imbibed by one and all in today’s circumstances was his opinion, he stated.

Neena Dutta, Principal, SMHSS, guest of honour also spoke on the occasion and offered her own and students services to carry forward the Red Cross movement. She became the Patron member of Red Cross too on the occasion.

Keynote address was offered by Captain Hekiye Sema, Advisor IRCS citing its history and philanthropic activities, while Honorary Secretary KK Paul inducted the students of the school with the Junior Red Cross pledge. Ashok Agarwal, Treasurer IRCS chaired the programme while MC member Kuldeep Jain introduced the chief guest. 

IRCS Dimapur Chairman Chandu Agarwal and Vice-Chairman Ajay Sethi offered the welcome address and vote of thanks respectively. Message of General Secretary Akhale V Khamo was read on the occasion detailing the works and ethics of Red Cross movement, besides the greetings on the occasion. More than 300 people attended the celebration which was followed by refreshments for all.

Six MC Members who have completed a decade or more of their services in Red Cross were also honoured.
