Dimapur, December 5 (MExN): The ‘Development Committee of Ward 21’ comprising of four colonies under Dimapur Municipality including Nyamo colony, Churches colony, Middle Point colony and Notun Basti colony on Sunday informed that they ‘will not allow any persons or groups to open/operate any associations or unions with some attractive and catchy names of the area, road etc and collect money in the name of welfare, membership, office maintenance etc.’
The committee has requested upon the district administration not to give registration or recognize them without the consent of the colony council/GB of the respective area/colony, stated a press release issued by Jonah Achumi, Convenor and Omega G Naga Secretary, Ward 21 Development Committee, Dimapur.
It also denounced collections/donations of any kinds by the so called self styled business welfare associations/unions within its jurisdiction. Despite knowing the fact that Nagaland's business community, especially related to Dimapur is already over pressured with multiple taxation from all nooks and corners, the explosive growth of bogus unions/institutions underneath the guise of serving the interest/welfare of the commercial enterprise community whose modus operandi is collection of charges/donations have added another torment on them.
The Committee warns those agencies/unions/associations to right away stop such illegal collection of 'taxes' within its jurisdiction as such unauthorised collections by various unions and organizations has done nothing good so far but lead to uncontrolled inflation in all prices.
The committee also wish to remind all those unions/associations that every colony has a Council Office, GB Office and Youth Body to look into its own affairs be it welfare activities of its members or solving any dispute or problems and at such there is no need for such so called unions/organizations to interfere in the internal affairs of the respective colonies.
Despite the fact that the Constitution of India guarantees to every one of its residents the option to shape affiliations, associations or co-employable social orders, the state government ought not haphazardly endorse and recognize any such random self-assertive associations/unions without first determining the intentions of such offices as such countless associations/affiliations have effectively injured our state and had caused more damage than good overall.
