Diphupar, Ikishe boundary dispute settled

Dimapur, June 22 (MExN): Diphupar ‘B’ and Ikishe village are said to have resolved a “20 year old” boundary dispute.  The “20 years old village boundary” issue between the two villages was amicably settled today, said a note received here. 

A meeting was held between elders of the two villages in the residence of the chairman of Diphupar ‘B’ Village Council where the Diphupar ‘B’ village authority issued a no objection certificate to Ikishe village, the note said.  

The certificate was signed by head GB LP Therie, Village Council Chairman Kakiho Sumi and Village Council Secretary Mhathung Lotha. It stated that all disputes between the two villages have been settled through mutual understanding.

The elders and leaders of the two villages also signed a joint declaration and agreement. The declaration signed by Kakiho Sumi, chairman, Village Council, Diphupar ‘B’, Kakhevi Kinimi, chairman, Village Council, Ikishe Village, L. P. Therie Head GB, Diphupar ‘B’, Ikishe Sumi Head GB, Ikishe village, Mhathung Lotha, Secretary, Village Council, Diphupar ‘B’ and Khubolho T. Yepthomi, Secretary, Village Council, Ikishe Village. It stated that both the councils have unanimously resolved to “forget and forgive” each other “in the name of the almighty God” and maintain peaceful co-existence between the two village councils.

It was resolved that the present boundary as held by each village shall be recognized and accepted as official and final by both the villages and none of the villages shall encroach into the other’s boundary under any circumstances. A stone demarcating the two villages’ boundary was also erected.
