Dimapur: An interactive discourse on Naga politics, economy and education was the highlight of a panel discussion organized by the Ao Students Union Dimapur (ASUD) at the Imliyanger Memorial Center (IMC). The purpose behind the event was to set aside differences among the Aos and encourage a feeling of unity and to ensure a brighter vision for the community.  The resource persons were I. Imkong, Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader, Mangyang Lima, ADC (Judicial) and Professor Imchayanger.

The CLP leader encouraged students present to cherish their identity and not to lose the sense of belongingness as a Naga even when away in alien lands. He stressed on the issues facing the society and importance of politics in the society and how the younger generation should be sincere, hardworking, dedicated and God-fearing.

ADC Lima, who is also the President of Dimapur Consumers Forum (DCF), while challenging the insincere attitude of the younger generation, urged the students to work towards an economic system based on self reliance.

“We should not rely on others for our personal benefits rather we should generate our own resources through self-employment and set an example for the other Naga youths”, the ADC said. He also stressed on the potential of greater development in areas like Tuli and Noklak.

Also, speaking at the occasion, Professor Imchayanger pointed out certain issues which both students and parents should dwell on. He also suggested some practical guidelines to build a more effective background for the students to benefit from education. The Professor also emphasized on spiritual well-being while urging the people to rediscover oneself in God. After the discourses from the resource persons a question hour was set aside for interaction.

Several cultural performances by a group of children were the highlights of the meeting. Other high officials, invitees and members from different unions attended the discussion.
