I would like to impress upon the government of Nagaland through this small letter, the grievances of the Rengma tribe. I would prefer not to go in detail the history of the Rengma, since the government is aware of the Rengma historical background and its contribution and participation in the formation of Nagaland statehood.
As a matter of fact, I see no reason as to why the Rengma tribe should be neglected and be deprived of its right. I appreciate the DAN Goverment for upgrading 3 three new districts and considering the importance of tribes, this policy of the DAN government should be welcomed by every section of people. However it is to our utter surprise that Rengmas are discriminated once again by the DAN govt by neglecting the long Demand of the Rengma for up gradation of ADC Tseminyu to a full fledged administrative Head Quarter. The Rengma deserved independent administrative Unit to function to plan, decide, and work according to the needs and desire of its people like any other tribe of Naga.
Perhaps, Rengmas sentiments have been hurts with negative attitude and discriminatory role of the govt and a feeling left in the mind of the people, as to why there cannot be justice for the Rengma. The Rengma as simple and honest as it is will do anything to voice it’s right in a simple and honest way, but the simplicity and honesty should not be taken as a sign of our weakness. I am hopeful that the govt will use its wisdom to deliver justice to the Rengma people.
