District Jail Longleng inaugurated

Longleng, November 18 (MExN): The District Jail Longleng was inaugurated on November 18 in the presence of H Haiying, Advisor Prisons, Printing & Stationary, S Pangnyu Phom, Minister Healthy & Family Welfare, N Bongkho Konyak, Advisor DUDA and S Keoshu Yimchunger, MLA. 

The dedicatory prayer was offered by Rev Chingkon, Pastor, Oushok Baptist Church, a DIPR report stated. 

Gracing the inaugural programme, Minister Pangnyu shared concern over the prevailing economic conditions of the community. He pointed out that the establishment of the District Jail will solve economic problems and challenges the state faces today such as crimes, drugs and robbery. He added that the district administration, NGOs and people should be willing to co-operate and make the best use out of such a fine establishment.

Stressing on the importance on vaccination, he said it is the best solution available so far and that everyone should be vaccinated at the earliest to be on the safer side of COVID.

Advisor Haiying in his speech said, “We had 10 district jail and 1 central jail in our state. From today, including Longleng district jail, we have 12 jails in the Nagaland.” Adding that there were lots of ups and downs in the process of this project but we are eating the fruits today, he congratulated the contractors, engineers and all those involved in making the project a success.

Bongkhao Konyak, Advisor, DUDA and S Keoshu Yimchunger, MLA also spoke at the programme. Er Sungtiba Amer, Executive Engineer (CAWD) Kohima gave a report on the construction report of the jail. ADC Longleng, village council chairman Bhumnyu and President Phom people council also spoke at the programme. Vote of thanks was delivered by Khushito Awomi, Senior Superintendent of Jails Prisons HQs, Kohima.
