
Kohima, October 21 (MExN): A meeting of the District Level Implementation Committee for mobilizing unorganized workers and undertaking registration drives in respective districts for their enrolment on the eShram portal was held at DC’s Conference Hall, Kohima on October 21.
The implementing committee members discussed various issues on registration, enrolment and mobilization programmes and also decided to organise sensitization programmes in all the Sub-division with village functionaries under Kohima district, a DIPR report stated.
Chairing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie informed that the Ministry of Labour & Employment, has developed eShram portal (www.eShram.gov.in), the first ever national database of unrecognized workers.
The national database of unrecognized workers would be seeded with Aadhaar with details like name, occupation, addresses, education, skill types, family details etc. for optimum realization of their employability and to extend the benefit of the social security schemes to them.
Additional Secretary, Labour and Employment, Anthony Ngully informed that any worker who has been working in unrecognized sector and aged between 16 to 59 years, would be eligible to register on the eShram portal including, migrant workers, gig workers, platform workers, agricultural workers, MGNREGA workers, fishermen, milkmen, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, street vendors, domestic workers, rickshaw pullers and other workers engaged in other similar occupations in the unrecognized sector, self-employed worker or a wage worker in the unorganised sector and also workers in the organized sector who is not a member of ESIC, EPFO or not a government employee.
Highlighting on the benefits of registration on eShram portal, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Vikeluto Naki said that the eShram portal will be a centralized database of unrecognised workers seeded with Aadhaar. After registering, the worker will get an accidental insurance cover of 2 lakh under PMSBY. Stating that in the future, all the social security benefits of the unrecognised workers will be delivered through the portal, even in emergency and national pandemic situation like the COVID-19, the database would be utilized for assistance. He informed that the following documents are required for registration in eShram portal: Aadhaar number; mobile number (Aadhaar linked preferred), Bank Account with IFSC by self-registration with Adhaar linked mobile number or by visiting the nearest CSC and State SevaKendras (SSKs) with biometrics.
