‘Disturbed Area’: NPF urges Centre to revoke decision

Kohima, January 3 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) on Sunday expressed resentment over the extension of the ‘disturbed area’ status in the whole of Nagaland for another six months. The Ministry of Home Affairs had declared entire Nagaland as ‘disturbed area’ under the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act on December 30. Reacting to the order of the Central government, the NPF stated that during this crucial period of negotiation and with the Naga public hoping for a final solution, the order has come as a shock. The NPF reminded the Government of India (GoI) that imposition of the Act only shows the insincerity on the part of the Central Government and urged the GoI to reconsider its stand and revoke the Act and “exhibit its sincerity and expedite for a speedy conclusion to the vexed Naga political problem.”
