Dimapur: The Dimapur Municipal Council has acquired a Cesspool (Septic Tank) Cleaning machine. This is the very first time that such a state-of-the-art machine has been introduced in Dimapur.
The machine has the capability of cleaning septic tanks in a more hygienic manner and takes only a few minutes to execute its job.
The same can also be used to prevent water logging, overflow/blockage of drains, etc.
The machine will be let out to the public on hire basis for a very nominal charge which will depend upon the number of trips it takes.
The Cesspool Cleaner has a tank capacity of 3000 liters and a hose pipe measuring 500 feet in length. As such, it can also cater to areas without vehicular access. A press release issued by the Chairman of the DMC, Vikheho Awomi stated that the particular machine was purchased from a reputed national company for an amount of Rs. 12, 75,000.
The DMC has further extended its gratitude to the Government of Nagaland for the grant-in-aid to the tune of Rs. 3, 12,000 that it had disbursed to the former for the year 2004-05. The amount was utilized for the purchase of the said machine.
The Cesspool Cleaner will usually take about 20-25 minutes to have its tank filled with liquid wastes.
