Dimapur, August 31 (MExN): Advisor to Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) Tokheli Kikon today strongly denied any hand in the reported assault of a shopkeeper during the recent raid against fake cosmetic products in Hazi Park market in Dimapur. The DMC advisor issued a clarification today on the incident, where one person alleged to be her “henchman,” allegedly assaulted a trader.
“In the unfortunate incident with a shopkeeper as reported, I have nothing to do with the incident nor did such incident take place in my presence,” Kikon stated in the response. The DMC advisor has strongly cautioned that the allegation against her tantamount to character assassination and defamation and ha advised against stating such charges in the media in future.
Authorities raided the Hazi Park shops on August 29 for fake L’Oreal and Garnier products. The DMC advisor also clarified the circumstances behind the raid by authorities against the fake cosmetic products in Hazi park shops. “It was through the Patiala House Court, New Delhi’s order that the raid was conducted by the company’s advocates and government counsels comprising of eight members after due permission and assistance from the district administration and law enforcement agency as well,” the Advisor Kikon said.
“Besides being the advisor I/c of Quality Control of Dimapur Municipal Council, even as a responsible citizen one can discharge social responsibility through moral support for just cause, hence the Hazi Park Businessmen Welfare Committee questioning my authority and allegations on me is baseless,” she said.
“The allegations tantamount to character assassination and defamation, hence refrain be made in respect of publicly bringing out press release against me in the near future. Justice has been delivered to the general public through the raid conducted, hence appreciation be accorded rather than diverting the main cause,” the statement added.
