Dimapur, Feb 27 (MExN): Three Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) councilors in response to a news item which appeared in The Morung Express (‘Discreet Silence: The rule of the day’, Feb 27) which stated that the aforementioned councilors were part of the 13 signatories that petitioned a no-confidence motion to the Dimapur DC against DMC Chairperson Vikheho Awomi have clarified that they have at no point of time signed the petition.
A clarification, appended by three councilors Thepfuneituo Rio (Member, Ward No 1), T Vikheho Zhimomi (Member, Ward No 17) and H Hokivi Chishi (member Ward No 19), has demanded that the authenticity of the news item be substantiated with proof/evidence or clarification to the same. The councilors maintained that it had implicated them ‘unnecessarily’ while stating that it would take legal action if the news reports were not substantiated. “In the event that our names/signatures magically appear in the petition, it shall be a crystal clear case of forgery for which Khekaho Assumi and H Tovihoto Ayemi shall be held solely responsible for which they shall also have to face legal prosecution for forgery” the clarification further added.
They also requested the public not to be confused or misled by “selfish and vested interests who slump into rebellious binges when our capable leaders like Y Vikheho Awomi and DP Angami are sacrificing all their time and energy for the benefit and well being of the society and the generations to come.”
