DMC revises pork rates

Dimapur, November 4 (MExN): The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) Administrator Albert Ezung has issued an order notifying revised rates of pork.

The order which is to come into force with immediate effect was necessitated following a joint representation submitted by the pork dealers (wholesalers) of Dimapur for the enhancement of rate from the existing rate, the order stated.

Accordingly, the rate was revised taking into consideration the prevailing market situation, it added.

As per the revised rate, the price of pork for wholesale has been fixed at Rs 170 per kg, while retail (dressed) would cost Rs 250 per kg and Rs 200 per kg for offal (head, hoof, intestine).

The prescribed rate is the maximum amount fixed by the DMC and is subjected to review from time to time, the order added.

Butchers have also been directed to maintain hygiene in their respective stalls and provide quality meat to the customers.

Failure to comply with the order would compel the DMC to take appropriate action as per provision of the Act, it cautioned.
