To commemorate one year of the Sunday Service initiative, Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital (DMMDH), Wokha, held a Thanksgiving Service at the hospital’s Chapel Hall.
The Sunday Service, which began in 2024, was introduced to cater to hospital employees who are often on duty even on Sundays, providing them with an opportunity to worship and seek spiritual strength within the hospital premises.
Delivering a short address, Medical Superintendent, Dr. N. Mhonchan Kithan, shared that the initiative was started to help staff members attend worship services and pray for their patients while uplifting their moral and spiritual well-being. He expressed gratitude to God and underlined the importance of thanksgiving, noting that it not only nurtures spiritual growth but also contributes to physical and mental health by reducing stress and blood pressure.
Dr. Kithan also conveyed appreciation to various churches for visiting the hospital, sharing God’s word, and strengthening the faith of the medical staff.
The speaker of the Thanksgiving Service, Mhademo Ngullie, Music Director of Wokha Town Baptist Church, spoke on the significance of gratitude and the various forms of thanksgiving. He encouraged the congregation to thank God not only for blessings already received but also in anticipation of what is yet to come, and even during times of hardship. He urged everyone to remain steadfast in faith, to trust God in every circumstance, and to continue being grateful and faithful Christians in both joy and trials. The programme was chaired by Staff Nurse, R. Ayala. The invocation was led by General Surgeon, Dr. Visazotuo, while the offertory prayer was offered by Psychiatric Nurse, DMMHP Lireni Tungoe. A special song was presented by Staff Nurse, Areni, and the Scripture reading was done by Lokyonglo. The service concluded with a mass spoken prayer.
