Dimapur, March 18 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) lashed out at the state government over the lack of “relevant explanation” to its questions regarding the alleged “backdoor appointments” in the police department.
Earlier on February 13, DNSU had sought clarification and justification from the Police Department on the proposed training of over a thousand new police recruits whereas only 206 posts were published vacant and 225 were declared qualified.
In a press release from its Media Cell on Wednesday, DNSU claimed that while DGP Nagaland had “in his safe side” rejected the allegations, “as per RTI report, the number appointed shows 930 against the posts of 206 which clearly portrays the so called practice of backdoor appointments.”
DNSU also took a jibe at the Chief Minister who it said was “seasoned” in such matters and questioned why he would allow “such corruptions” to continue. Terming it as a “matter of state’s integrity,” it said it would “not stop unless our rights are justified and will never be compromised by the unethical practices of these few corrupted officials.”
Further, it expressed support to the Naga Tribal Union Chümoukedima Town’s demand for cancellation of all appointments except the 206 advertised posts, and conduct fresh recruitment for the 994 other posts through open recruitment.
“The Union would not reflect or compromise with options and assertions made by the home department unless all the vacancies are advertised,” the release stated.
