Dimapur, January 28 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) on Wednesday condemned an alleged recruitment scam in the Nagaland State Transport Department, where selected candidates were reportedly asked for Rs 10,000 each for “paper work”.
The union stated the practice was “unethical” and a “blatant violation of transparency, fairness, and merit-based recruitment.” It termed the exploitation of unemployed youth as “deeply disturbing and unacceptable in a democratic system.”
In a press release, the DNSU asserted it would not tolerate “any form of corruption, bribery, or exploitation of students and job-seeking youth”. It warned that the future of educated youth “cannot be held hostage by corrupt individuals abusing their authority”.
The student body demanded an immediate, impartial and time-bound investigation, identification and strict legal action against all individuals involved “irrespective of their position or influence,” and an assurance from the concerned department that “such practices will not be repeated” and the “recruitment processes will remain transparent and accountable.”
The DNSU said it would monitor the situation closely and “reserves the right to initiate democratic and lawful measures should justice be delayed or denied.” It urged the Nagaland Government and the concerned authorities to take this issue with the seriousness it deserves and restore public trust in the recruitment system.
