Dimapur, June 1 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) on Tuesday said it is utterly agonized and exasperated over the bail granted to the accused person who allegedly molested a minor, basing on a medical report which is “7 to 8 years old” as reported.
DNSU Media Cell on Tuesday questioned the integrity of the court where the judge has “considered the bail petition and showed leniency to the under-trail prisoner failing to realize the gravity and nature of the case.”
According to the union, “as per the reports, it is also highly questionable whether the Court has been intimated with any report on the fitness and health conditions of the under-trial prisoner after being taken into judicial custody. It is a fact that such case is significantly sensitive in nature and involves a great deal of social concern.”
Therefore, it appealed to the concerned Court to “thoroughly re-examine the report submitted in the bail petition, as granting of bail by merely relying on a past medical report is not only unsatisfactory but a mockery to the justice system.” It also expressed apprehension of “any unfair means that may obstruct and fabricate the facts of the case if the Court shows less interest in delivering justice to the victim despite the merit of the case in favor of the victim.” The Union further asserted “such a criminal and perverted act against a child will not be tolerated by any means and that the Court of law should expedite the matter and abstain from delaying its proceedings.”
NWHD: Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD) has questioned the concerned authority for granting the bail to the accused in the alleged molestation case. It also questioned the validity of the medical report on which he was released. ‘This action is an injustice to the minor girl and her families,’ it stated.
Condemning the shameful act committed to a minor school girl, the hoho said “it is disgusted by this incident where the perpetrator happens to be an educator himself. This act of crime has not only traumatized the victim but also aroused fear in the minds of the parents and questioned the security of our children in the school.”
It further demanded for justice and befitting punishment to the culprit without any delay.
