‘Do not misuse government subsidies’

Dimapur, February 28 (MExN): The Digitech College of IT & Management, Dimapur today launched a skill developing programme on “Digital Photography and Videography” and “Mobile Repairing”  for deserving skilled entrepreneurs of Nagaland. Most of the resource persons told the aspirants to enrol in the programme only if serious about it and not to misuse the certificate in availing government subsidies or for any other purpose.

The chief guest for the inaugural event was deputy director of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Rual Khumi. She disclosed that most of the time people join such programmes in an aim to assist them in getting hold of government loans and later misusing it.

She appealed the aspirants to apply for subsidies only when they do not have a sufficient capital to start a business. “Do not run for something which is free. What you earn will make you up in the long run.” 

Earlier, photographer Dipankar Bhagawati spoke on the scope of taking “digital photography and videography” as a career and said that to be a photographer a person needs to have the “third eye” so that the picture itself would tell a story to the audience. “Photography is an art and it is meant to be experimented.”

On mobile repairing, Kamal Hassan explained on the benefits of taking it as a profession. He said mobile repairing has a big market in India since almost everyone owns a mobile. “...yesterday it was a big business, today it is still a big business and tomorrow it will still be a big business.”

Interestingly, he also said that in Dimapur there are numerous mobile serving centres but most of the time they dupe their customers. On which, he appealed the aspirants to work honestly so that it will boost their career. 

Also, the deputy director of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Nagraja said that the government is doing its best to create more opportunities for self employed people by generating various schemes or subsidies. However, one should not misuse it. 

On the same subject, Amenla from IIE also said that unemployment is a threat to the society and should utilise the schemes given by government wisely. “How wise are you in utilising the schemes provided by the government?”

Harish, advisor to the institute also stressed on commitment to one’s profession. He also said to the aspirants not to take the programme for the sake of availing government subsidies. 

It was also informed that the institute will be launching another similar programme on filming and wed designing.
