Dimapur, January 26 (MExN): Dimapur Provincial Federation of Don Bosco Alumni is hosting the Indian National Congress cum Centenary Celebrations of World Confederations of Don Bosco Alumni at Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh from January 29 to 31.The event that will be inaugurated by the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh at 10:00 am on January 29 will facilitate hundreds of old students of Don Bosco institutes, schools and colleges from all over the country for a re-union as Bosconians and interact on the theme: “Review, Renew and Return to Don Bosco to usher in a Century of Peace and National Integration”.
In a press note issued by its provincial secretary, Dr.stephen Kamson stated that the Don Bosco Alumni is an association of like minded old students of institutes run by the Salesians of Don Bosco in the “Preventive System” pioneered by Don Bosco himself. The World Confederation which now has presence in 125 Countries with over 3,000,000 members started 100 Years ago when the First International Congress was held at Valdocco, Turin (Italy) in 1911. The Indian National Federation with over 130 Units scattered across the 10 Provinces has over 47,000 registered members.
“Dimapur Province which covers the states of Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam (Upper) won the bid to host this mega event by scoring over other Provinces in the country on several parameters that include hospitality and cultural richness of the people, the Natural beauty of the region etc. 50 members from Nagaland and Manipur are leaving for the program on January 28,” the note said.
It may be mentioned here that, Don Bosco Alumni Dimapur Province, attempts to reach out to all Bosconians to become a reckonable force that contribute to bring positive changes in the society. The Federation through its 10 Constituent Units conducts programs for the benefit of the less privileged and younger strata of Society. The Dimapur unit, with logistic supports from the District Medical Dept and Lions Club of Dimapur maintained a Medical First Aid Booth during the recently concluded 5-day Boscoree that brought over 1800 scouts and guides from all over the Country.
