• NDPP MLAs to contribute one month’s salary
• To conduct statewide fund drive
Dimapur, August 4 (MExN): All the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) MLAs and party members who have been appointed to various government positions will contribute one month’s salary to a fund drive, which will be donated to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
A decision to this effect was taken during the NDPP Central Executive Board emergency meeting held on August 4 along with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and NDPP MLAs.
The meeting also appealed to all concerned to come forward and contribute towards the CM’s Relief Fund, a release issued by NDPP media and communications committee stated.
It was also disclosed that the Government of India has positively responded by sending the Union MoS (Home) Kiren Rijiju, who is arriving in the State on August 5 to take stock of the overall situation and review the extent of damage caused by the natural calamities.
The meeting resolved that the party will carry out a statewide fund drive from all rank and file of the party to donate voluntarily in order to contribute towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and donate towards relief and rehabilitation of those people suffering due to the calamities.
The party meanwhile expressed condolences to the members of the bereaved families who lost their lives during the calamities that took place in different parts of the State in the aftermath of incessant rains. It further expressed concern towards those disrupted due to landslides and floods.
