‘Article 371(A) is a solemn commitment,’ says RN Ravi
Kohima, August 6 (MExN): Downplaying apprehensions expressed over the implications of August 5 development in Jammu & Kashmir on Nagaland, the Governor RN Ravi today ‘categorically’ assured the people that Article 371(A) is “a sacred commitment.”
“I would like to categorically assure you all that you do not have to worry at all. Article 371(A) is a solemn commitment to the People of Nagaland. It is a sacred commitment,” the Governor, who is also the Interlocutor to Naga Peace Talk, stated in a press release issued by Raj Bhavan, Nagaland.
“We are earnestly working to happily conclude the ongoing political process which is at a very advanced stage. God be with us all,” he added.
The Governor’s assurance came against the backdrop of the passage of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill 2019 and the adoption of resolution to abrogate the Constitution's Article 370 in Rajya Sabha on August 5.
On various media platforms, Nagas from different walks of life have expressed apprehensions over the implications of development in Jammu & Kashmir on Nagaland as well as the ongoing Naga Peace Talk.
