Zunheboto, September 16 (MExN): The monthly meetings of the District Planning & Development Boards (DPDBs) of Zunheboto and Kiphire were held on September 16, with the respective boards reviewing development priorities, departmental activities and administrative matters in the districts.
Zunheboto:
The Zunheboto DPDB meeting was held at the DC’s Conference Hall, with Advisor for Food & Civil Supplies, Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection and DPDB Chairman K Tokugha Sukhalu chairing the meeting.
A major issue discussed was the auditorium of Government Higher Secondary School, Zunheboto. The meeting was informed that the town hall, which had earlier been used as the school auditorium, originally belonged to the school but is presently under the Zunheboto Town Council (ZTC).
Sukhalu directed that the auditorium be handed back to the Government Higher Secondary School. The shortage of graduate teachers in the school was also highlighted.
He also stressed grassroots delivery of government schemes and the presence of Heads of Offices (HoOs) at district headquarters, and highlighted the creation of SITs to investigate instances of government employees receiving double salaries.
Meanwhile, on pension-related matters, Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj stated that he would not sign pension documents unless the concerned individual appeared in person, adding that substitutes would not be accepted.
The Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj highlighted a development under the “Aspirational Blocks for Performance” initiative, stating that Rs 1.5 crore had been sanctioned by NITI Aayog for Akuhaito Block in recognition of its performance.
Earlier, he welcomed the new members and referred to the deliberations of the previous meeting.
A presentation on the relevant legal framework and associated Acts and Rules was delivered by Assistant Controller Khevishe Z Zhimomi, informed the State DIPR.
Kiphire:
The Kiphire DPDB meeting was held at the DC’s Conference Hall, with Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman Temsuwati Longkumer presiding.
At the meeting, proposals for registration of Jingkhu Mulong Seyochung Town Society and Green Roots Society were reverted, with the organisations directed to re-submit their proposals along with details of activities undertaken in previous years and photographs.
A presentation on “Reform Utsav” was made by Shoshutho Phoji, Assistant Planning Officer, District Planning Machinery, Kiphire, highlighting activities to be undertaken during the campaign phase, as well as the role of District Level Committee.
The Sericulture Department made a presentation on activities undertaken in the district during 2025-26, highlighting the status of Eri-cocoon and castor seed cultivation.
The house further deliberated on the upcoming Departmental Sports scheduled from October 8 to 10, 2026. DC Longkumer requested all departments to extend cooperation for the successful conduct of the event.
