DRDA holds HIV/AIDS advocacy in Kiphire

Kiphire, March 10 (MExN): The District Rural Development Agencies (DRDA) Kiphire in collaboration with the Medical Department Kiphire, Social Welfare Department Kiphire and District Aids Prevention Control Unit (DAPCU) departments conducted a week-long awareness and sensitization programme on HIV/AIDS.
The programme began on March 4 and culminated on March 9 at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall, Kiphire, which was held in all five blocks of Kiphire district.
The programmes were conducted for women pastors, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, Self Help Groups and VLOs. Resource persons were from the Medical Department, Social Welfare Department and DAPCU departments, who talked about early detection and early treatment, elimination of mother to child transmission etc.
The five RD blocks are Khongsa, Pungro, Longmatra, Kiphire and Sitimi, where for transportation convenience of the participants under Sitimi block, the programme was conducted at Seyochung town.
Meanwhile, Project Director, DRDA Kiphire, Setsathong Sangtam acknowledged the participants and villagers for giving keen interest and their cooperation throughout the sensitization programme. He also acknowledged the co-organizing departments and the resource persons.
