Dream Dragon Fruit Farm located at Shitovi village on the outskirt of Dimapur on Saturday launched its Organic Dragon Fruit wine/juice, brewed right from the farm’s winery.

District Public Relations Officer, Dimapur, Lolano Patton, formally toasted the 100% organic wine/juice along with the farm owner Lucy Ngullie at the farm estate.

The DPRO congratulated Lucy, the proprietor/owner of Dream Dragon Fruit Farm, for adding another feather to her cap and expressed optimism that the new venture would boost the local economy.

Describing Lucy as a “very hardworking entrepreneur and farmer," the DPRO expressed optimism that the new venture would encourage other local farmers to diversify their farming activities.

Lucy said she took up the new venture primarily as value addition to her farming inputs and as a way forward towards self-sustenance. “Also dragon fruits are seasonal and perishable fruits, so I thought if I can convert some of the abundant harvest into wine or juice, then the fruits won’t go waste”, she said.

“I humbly hope that this venture would encourage and inspire fellow Naga farmers to learn how to be self-reliant and not always depend on government subsidies or intervention,” Lucy said.

The 100% organic two-year-old wine comes in two variants– white and red- and a bottle of the Organic Dragon Fruit wine costs Rs 1,100.

Lucy said the wine/juice would be up for sale through order by February next. “I have already a queue or orders for the wine and because of the limited quantity, I guess this year we wouldn’t be doing retail market,” she added.
