Dimapur: The Dhansiri River Flood Control Board (DRFCB) has stated that excavation above the embankment to construct the open septic latrine is illegal work. The Board, Chairman Hokheto Kiba said in a press release that it is strictly prohibited to construct the open septic latrine at the riverbank, which is polluting the environment and river.
The board cannot accept that under whosever supervision/in-charge such an unwanted works is not allowed to work on the riverbank and damage the embankment. Therefore, the board directs to repair the damaged embankment immediately. “It is highly risk for urban haat and old dhansiri bridge during rainy season or flood time. The bridge has been constructed during British period so it needs a strong foundation support to hold it,” the Board added.
