Kohima, August 16 (MExN): Along with the rest of the country, Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign (Drug-free India Campaign) for the state of Nagaland was launched by Atoli Sema, Director Social Welfare on August 15.
The campaign is sponsored by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India and will be carried out till March 31, 2021.
In her speech, the Director mentioned that campaign will be carried out extensively in three identified districts of Nagaland, namely Kohima, Dimapur and Mon by:
1. Conducting awareness generation programmes in the schools and colleges for students, teachers and parents.
2. Forming student clubs in the colleges to discuss and spread awareness.
3. Referring/taking victims or users to rehabilitation centres/ hospitals for counselling or treatment.
4. Monitoring of counselling and treatment facilities in the districts.
5. Ensuring strict implementation of ban of sale of tobacco within 100 metres of any educational institutions.
6. Conducting training programmes for the service providers at district level and sub-division level.
7. Encouraging community participation and public cooperation.
8. Identifying volunteers in the community and training them to work as community peer for spreading awareness in the community.
She also requested line departments, service providers, civil societies and faith-based organisations for cooperation to carry out this campaign successfully.
