
DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 18 (MExN): The Nagaland State Drugs Controlling & Licensing Authority has noted that certain unscrupulous persons and organizations are entering and inspecting pharmacies on the pretext of checking medicine and harassing the licensees in violation of the Drugs & Cosmetic Act.
“Usurpation and infringement of the powers of the State Drugs Control Authority is totally illegal and liable for strict legal action as per the law,” an order friom WH Patton, Additional Drugs Controller & Licensing Authority, Nagaland stated.
It informed that the State Drugs Control Authority is the only competent authority to regulate the import, manufacture, sale and distribution of drugs in the State under Section -21, Section -22 and Rule 51 of the aforesaid Act and Rules made there under wherein they are empowered to enter and inspect licensed pharmacy premises.
It informed that in case of any grievances against any pharmacy indulging in illegal business or dealing in sale of sub-standard drugs, the affected persons may lodge written compliant with evidence to the local Drugs Control Authority, Chief Medical Officer Office, for redressal and to initiate appropriate legal action as per law.
