Dimapur, March 6 (MExN): Educated Unemployed Union of Nagaland (EUUN) has expressed displeasure at what it called the dubious selection of 15 candidates more, from every district out of the already selected 100 inspiring entrepreneurs. “(It) is not only a selfish approach but an insult to the government’s noble initiative of grooming 1000 capable entrepreneurs from within the state. Reliable sources have confirmed that these 15 candidates are submitting Rs. 1000 per head to the Directorate of Industries and Commerce after filling-up Forms issued by the Directorate for financial clearance through PMEGP/KVIC,” the union said in a press release today issued by Azeu Namcyn Hau Vice-President of EUUN.
According to the EUUN the delay of the government in implementing the ‘Year of Entrepreneurs’ has ‘already dampened the spirit of the 1000 selected entrepreneurs’ who had completed the Entrepreneurial Development Programme’ (EDP) Training from Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) in Guwahati and Dimapur.
“Now, as if that was not enough, 15 candidates have been selected district-wise on priority basis to avail financial assistance leaving behind the other 85 candidates. What is the need of selecting 15 candidates each out of the already selected 100 Entrepreneurs from every district? On what basis and criteria are these people being selected once again? Why was there no Advertisement or information published in the local dailies? Why was information not despatched to all 1000 Entrepreneurs if such a selection procedure was being taken up yet again? Why work under-cover maintaining secrecy from the common public?”
The union has cautioned against nepotism and favouritism and has said that all 1000 selected entrepreneurs must be given the seed money and treated equally.
“The ever-increasing educated unemployed mass is closely observing the government, and encouraging such selfish motives of some bunch of well-to-do candidates will be a big blunder on the part of the government. Despite several voices raised in support of unemployment issues, not much seems to be done in reality and such lack of sincerity and commitment has today become the leading factor, depriving our unemployed youths its rightful share in society,” the organization said. “After undergoing Training, preparing DPRs, collecting quotations and completing all formalities since the past 1 year; assisting just a handful people will not solve the problem.”
Further, the EUUN stated, even after submission of Detailed Project Reports to the nodal department through the respective District Industries Centres, the failure on the part of the government to notify any official information pertaining to the ‘Year of Entrepreneurs’ till date is ‘disheartening.’
“In a society like ours where unemployment is very high and job opportunities astonishingly scarce, the government must nurture, groom and expose the potentials of its unemployed Youths as promised. After-all it was the government that announced the ‘Year of Entrepreneurs’, not the unemployed Youths.”
