Dimapur, June 28 (MExN): The Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) reacting to remarks made by MLA RK Thekho of Manipur Legislative Assembly that Dzukou Valley is of Manipur, has strongly affirmed that the picturesque valley belongs to Nagaland which no authority can disregard.
“The position of the Southern Angami has been made clear time and again and we do not intend to reiterate them here. The people of Southern Angami are very clear of the traditional boundary of their land, which cannot and should not be mixed up with that of the political boundary” the SAPO through its President Phelukhwe Kirha and Press Secretary Lezotuo Paphino stated. “To this end, every Naga is well aware of our land holding system which no authority can disregard” the organization reminded the MLA. The organization made it clear that the Government of Manipur has no right whatsoever to interfere with what was and is the Nagas’. “This being the case, perhaps the honorable MLA was misguided or misinformed of the facts. It is felt necessary for the people of the Southern Angami to clarify its position in newspapers regarding Dzukou or its adjoining areas but suffice it to say that Dzukou and Kezoltsa was and is ours” the SAPO made clear.
