Eastern Nagaland tribal bodies not to join 14 Naga Tribes Forum

Dimapur, December 1 (MExN): The six tribal bodies of Eastern Nagaland have resolved not to participate in the formation of 14 Naga Tribes Forum as proposed, but would participate in the 14 Naga Tribes meeting “only in regard to a ‘unified Naga Political Solution’ as initiated by ENPO.”

A resolution to this effect was passed during a joint consultative meeting of the Eastern Naga People’s Organisation (ENPO) and the six tribal bodies of Eastern Nagaland on December 1 at Hotel Saramati, according to updates from the ENPO Media Cell.

It was also decided that the said tribal bodies would not participate in the 14 Naga Tribes meeting without prior consent from the ENPO.

“Road communication being the backbone for any human development, the joint consultative meeting further resolved that ENPO shall not allow any undue taxation and unnecessary deductions by any individual, agent or group against all the ongoing road constructions within Eastern Nagaland,” it said, adding that the ENPO would not compromise the quality of workmanship from any contractors in its jurisdiction.
