DIMAPUR, AUGUST 4 (MExN): An indefinite economic blockade imposed by some NGOs from Assam at NH-2, Halwating, under Sivasagar district on August 3 was lifted on Saturday after Home Commissioner to the Nagaland Government wrote to the Principal Secretary (Home) Government of Assam seeking intervention. According to an official source, the blockade was lifted after DC Sivasagar met the agitators today. On Friday morning agitators were seen holding banners demanding for allowing construction of the Police Border Outpost in the Disputed Area Belt (DAB) near Watiyongpang Check Gate, Tuli under Mokokchung districts. Reports said that they were also checking all vehicles travelling from Assam to Nagaland and seizing vegetables and food items. Nagaland Home Commissioner R. Ramakrishnan, in his letter to the Assam Government, said indulging in such kind of activities by the agitators was highly objectionable and may lead to serious law and order situation in the border areas.
