EDGBA orders to stop illegal sale of liquor from May 1

Dimapur, April 20 (MExN): The East Dimapur GBs Association (EDGBA) has issued an order to close down “all establishments that sell liquor” and cease to operate this “illegal activities” with effect from May 1 in East Dimapur region.

In view of the “steep rise in unlawful selling of alcohol in its jurisdiction and the urgent need for taking measurements to prevent it” held a meeting, said a press release from Niuto Awomi, President, EDGBA

“From the stipulated date, the GBs and village elders will raid and if any outlets is found selling liquor, an FIR will be lodged, cases will be filed respectively,” EDGBA cautioned. 

The Association also took a stand that “if any land owner is found letting its residence for selling liquor, the owner will also be held equally responsible,” and they will be “exposed in the newspaper and actions will be initiated against the defaulters.”

EDGBA also requested the District Administration, Commission of Police and Excise Department to implement NLTP Act in toto and stop this illegal activity once and for all. “If any untoward incidents occur during the course of our actions against the illegal activities, the administration and government shall be held responsible,” the Association declared.
