Editor of Ao Milen passes away

Dimapur, September 19 (MExN): The Editor of Ao Milen, Sosangmeren passed away today, September 19, at his residence in Mokokchung after prolonged illness at 10:30 am. 

The Mokokchung Press Club has informed that the funeral service of late Sosangmeren will be held from 11:00 am tomorrow, September 20 at his residence in Mongsenbai Ward, Mokokchung. The Club in a condolence message has expressed sorrow over the demise of Sosangmeren, who was an Advisor to the Club, besides actively serving in various social organizations. The Club in the note stated that late Sosangmeren was “a born orator among the Nagas and the Aos in particular”. 

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has mourned the death of late Sosangmeren. The CM in his condolence message described late Sosangmeren as a person who was firm to his principles and beliefs. He also stated that he was actively involved in politics since his youth and an ardent regionalist. 

“…he will always be remembered for his valuable services to the NPF party and his tireless contribution towards the well being of the people of not only Mokokchung but the State. His contribution to in the field of Ao literature will also be long remembered. Though he later gave up active politics due to personal reasons, he continued to remain a staunch supporter of NPF,” he stated in the note.

The note also added that the CM and his Wife convey their heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family.

The Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) has also mourned the demise of late Sosangmeren and it has stated in a condolence message that in his death, the Nagas have lost a dynamic leader whose contribution and sacrifices made for the progress of Naga society in general and the Aos in particular will be cherished and remembered by the younger generations. “The AKM joins the bereaved family members in this hour of grieve and sorrow and also prays for the departed soul to rest in peace.” 

Also in a separate note, the Fazl Ali College Alumni Association (FACAA) has “deeply mourned” the demise late Sosangmeren, who was the President of the Association.

“We extend our condolence to the bereaved family and pray that God will provide solace to the family members during this dark moment of grief and profound loss. Late Sosangmeren was a noble man with a noble heart who will be dearly missed. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace,” stated the FACAA in the note.
