Medziphema, December 11 (MExN): An off-campus training programme on “Promotion of Integrated Farming Systems (IFS) in Nagaland” was organised from December 7-10 in Medziphema.
It was conducted by the Extension Education Institute - North East Region (EEI - NER), Assam Agricultural University (AAU) Jorhat in collaboration with State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Nagaland.
The training programme was aimed at educating Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) functionaries on creating sustainable livelihood through Integrated Farming system, a press release from Director SAMETI & Principal Integrated Extension Training Centre (IETC) Medziphema, Dr Watimongla Jamir informed.
Participants were also encouraged to work in convergence with Agriculture and Allied Department by working with the village community for increasing the production and upliftment of farmers’ income, it said.
The inaugural programme chaired by Dr Jamir Director had the keynote addresses by resource persons Dr AK Bhattacharyya, Dr Chittaranjan Deka and Madhusmita Dutta, faculty Staff and Team member of EEI-NER Jorhat Assam. The vote of Thanks was delivered by H Mhonthung Merry, Deputy Project Director, SAMETI.
