Effective planning for economic sustainability needed, says CPO

Phek, May 2 (MExN): The Chakhesang Public Orgnisation (CPO) on Saturday called for strong and effective planning for economic sustainability both at the state and village level as the state remains under uncertainty owing to the pandemic COVID-19.

The CPO issued a press release today calling for strong and effective planning for economic sustainability both at the state and village level and said that every effort must be put to vigorously plant more crops with innovative methods to harvest in abundance especially considering the present season. It also said that “every cultivable land which were left abandoned are to be brought for cultivation.”

Referring to CPO resolution number two where it adopted this year as ‘Year of Tree Plantation’ during the CPO general session at Phek Town in January, it requested every village authority to implement the resolution during the month of May with all seriousness by collecting locally available nursery plant for plantation. Since CPO official program was not possible at this moment, inspection and numbers of tree planted by every village shall be maintained for record, the release stated.

Further, the CPO observed that “information itself is becoming a sort of pandemic as it gallops ahead of reality,” and said that people are “infested with doubts, fear and crippled with anxiety even if the virus has not harm us.”

On this, it recommended that “Quarantine and COVID-19 dead protocol are needed to be thoroughly disseminated more specially to the villagers to avoid creating the attitude of social ostracizing amongst the people.” Precautionary measures and advisories given by the state and central government are to be strictly observed along with all the administrative directives/orders, “Lest our ignorance leads us to a point of no return,” it said.

Meanwhile, CPO extended its appreciation to the many that have done commendable service by extending both financial and material help during the lockdown period. “COVID-19 pandemic is yet to be contained, so let us all be alert in observing the protocols,” it concluded.
