KOHIMA, APRIL 13 (DIPR): The 2-day Emergency Health Management (First Aid) Training successfully concluded yesterday with the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Sashimeren Aier as the Chief Guest of the valedictory function held at ATI Complex on 12th April.
Dr. Sashimeren Aier said that in Nagaland there is the need for preparation to be done in important areas for occurrences of Natural calamities such as earthquakes and the consequences it may cause. He appealed to the participants of TOT programme on Emergency Health Management to shoulder responsibilities and do service to man in their own respective fields, functions or areas with the knowledge they have acquired in the training when situation arises for any Medical Emergency.
He appealed to them to carry out their services to humanity for any eventuality, calamity or issue that comes up. In such a situation, it is the responsibility of every citizen to come forward to save a life help the casualty, to whom First Aid should be given in absences of Medical Team, he added saying that one should have the knowledge of Emergency Health Management (First Aid).
He expressed his happiness on the good response and a big participation in the training and added that the training was a good start. Thought the training was a combination of medical staff and people from other fields, the functions areas of different capacity, Sashimeren said that the neutral knowledge they might have acquired in the training have enriched them all.
He acknowledged the Disaster Management Cell as they are going to conduct the specific Management Training for Doctors and nurses in the near future. He also appreciated the Administrative Training Institute for imparting education and knowledge to people in different areas and capacities and added that the Institute is second to none for capacity building.
Taking into account the divergent views of participants in the training the Addll Director of ATI, F. P. Solo, in his address said that in future, categories of participants would be differentiated for smooth conduct of trainings and to have better and effective outcome. Solo also said that ATI being the Nodal Training Institute for capacity building it has limitations for the frame work of Disaster Management Programme. He said that DMC is headed by the Chief Minister of the state, its cabinets and the high level authorities and added the Nodal Department is Home Department which decides all training programme.
Short speeches were also delivered by the resource person Dr. T Katiry, Dr. K Hoshi and Mr. L. Kenneth Punyü.
The faculty head Mr. Semy announced that a training programme for Mass casualty for disaster management will be conducted in the near future where a resource person is expected from Orissa.
Certificates were distributed to all the participants in the training.
