Dimapur, July 9 (MExN): In a significant statement issued today, the Naga Hoho has appealed to right-thinking Nagas, particularly young people, to take a stand and fight the now-deeply entrenched ‘culture’ of corruption in the entire Naga spectrum. Reminding of the unspoken but reality of corruption in the government machineries, the Naga Hoho also drew analogy to the fact that corruption has reduced even Naga ambition for “self-determination” to “servicing corruption, ignorance, etc.”
‘From ‘nationalism’ to greed, corruption
The Naga Hoho leadership issued a statement today making the clarion, appended by its president Keviletuo Kiewhuo and general secretary P Chuba Ozukum. The Naga Hoho feels the urgency and makes this clarion to all right-thinking Nagas: “We feel that it is our outmost duty to point out loop holes in our system and society. Therefore we appeal to the state government machineries and institutions to offer a clean and an efficient governance and take steps to eradicate corruption and nepotism at all levels and make a people friendly government.”
In its statement, the Naga Hoho pointed out the various faces of corruption – bribery, nepotism and greed, nexus between governments and criminals – and how the Nagas’ quest for “self-determination” has turned into slavery to money.
“Corruption has progressively increased and is now rampant in our society. Today corruption has become an inevitable issue in Nagaland. Corruption is seen in almost every part of Nagaland. Viewing from working post regard, almost each one has dipped himself into this sinful act,” the Naga Hoho stated.
