Wokha, December 10 (MExN): Culmination programme of 16 day activism against gender violence was celebrated on the occasion of Human Rights Day on the theme ‘end violence against women now’ at Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall, Wokha on December 10.
SDO (C) Wokha, Selemla S Sangtam said that during the activism, volunteers from DLCW-MSK and Sakhi-One Stop Centre conducted door to door campaign to spread awareness to end violence against women. She encouraged womenfolk to voice out their rights in-order to bring about gender equality, and continue working to bring positive change for women.
“Raise your voice in unity so that violence can be eliminated” said Medical Officer, Nyiro Dr Wonchibeni T Murry while urging “women to report on time regarding their health issues and grievances so that problems can be addressed.”
Panel Lawyer, Wokha DLSA, Advocate, W Gracy Ezung highlighted the various rights of women. Short speeches were also delivered by District Skill Development Officer, Wokha for Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship under the initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship GOI, Anuranjan Singh, representatives from Lotha Eloe Hoho, Central Administrator Sakhi-One Stop Centre, Renthunglo Kikon and Secretary Indian Red Cross Society, Wokha Branch, Dr Zumomo Ovung.
