ENSA welcome PM’s concern for Nagas of Myanmar

Dimapur, June 2 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Association (ENSA) is grateful to the Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh “for his recent visit to Myanmar and showing India’s special concern towards Nagas of Myanmar who have been overlooked and neglected for the ages in terms of infrastructure development etc.” The ENSA is hopeful that the face and fortune of the Naga peoples in Myanmar would now see change following the PM’s visit.

“Though India is one of our immediate neighbors, for years we could not see each other as good neighbor. However, it is our hope that after his visit things will never be the same again and looked forward for much fruit,” stated a message received here today from ENSA’s vice president Mankhat Konyak and general secretary Y Khomong Khiamniungan.

The organization hopes that within a couple of years after his visit, “the face of Naga area will differently change and richly harvest the fruits of being good neighbor.” The Naga areas and its people were neglected by both Burma and India for years because of the “wilderness of it territory” where a “revolutionary govt.” was only known to the inhabitants. “However, due to the changing of government system in Myanmar and open the door wider to global communities, we are optimistic that, the untold suffering of Naga ethnic minority in Myanmar will come to an end,” the ENSA stated.    The ENSA also acknowledged the government of India for extending the ceasefire period with the NSCN/GPRN (K) group.
