Kohima, August 28 (MExN): The officials of ENSF and Phom Students’ Conference jointly inspected various departments under Longleng district from August 16 to 19 last.
While appreciating the tireless and selfless sacrificial services rendered by the ENSF officials in the four districts of Eastern Nagaland, the Conference Vice president Chaupong Leinak and general secretary Shahsha Menhahu highlighted some of the grievances of the departments which they observed.
The Conference found that some of the officers and staff were absent right from January to August 2011, where some staff were attached at Dimapur and Kohima, other transferred with post causing shortage, whereas most of the sincere staff were fixed paid not even a scale pay, “it was pity to know that some of the department were functioning at store and private residences as there was no office building of staff quarter.”
A release received also stated that the District Hospital has no transformer for x-ray machine, neo-natal ward, matron, or specialist doctor in the department of Obstetric/gynecology and pediatrics, the present operation theater at District Hospital was build by Phom Lempong.
It also stated that the department of PWD R&B has no equipments or machineries (JCP/Deeper) to maintain the frequent landslide, work order for the construction and upgradation of the ongoing NEC roads Longleng- Ladigarh were allotted in the year 2006, however, the work progress is dead slow and the contract work completion period is long overdue, more over the progress of work is unsatisfactory.
The department of power at the district is manned by JE Changtongya Sub Division under Mokokchung district, no SDO (Elect) or EE have been posted so far, outdated electric post with 45 KN Disc which is below capacity (instead of 75 KN Disc) stands, the release said.
The Conference also stated that due to shortage of teachers some GPS have a private teachers financed by the Churches. Most of the time officers posted at the district were on the verge of retirement thus effecting the smooth functioning of the department concerned.
“On observing the above system of administration in the district, it has become necessary for PSC to appeal to the government for immediate and necessary intervention and the government staff and officers to kindly extend cooperation for effective administration and efficient development in the district,” the Conference said.
