ENSF opposes DoSE rationalisation order

Urges retention of teachers till replacements provided

TUENSANG, AUGUST 26 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has expressed deep dissatisfaction and disappointment over the recent notification issued by the Department of School Education (DoSE) on August 22.

In a representation submitted to the Principal Director, School Education, the Federation said that despite the acute shortage of teachers in schools under the eastern region, the department, instead of making new appointments to address the crisis, has carried out large-scale transfers of teachers without relievers.

The ENSF described the decision as “unjust, insensitive and severely detrimental” to the education of students in the region.

The Federation said that in view of academic safety and uninterrupted learning, the transferred teachers should be retained until proper replacements are provided. It cautioned that the eastern region is already grappling with inadequate teaching staff and such measures only aggravate existing challenges.

“We earnestly urge the Department to reconsider this decision and take immediate corrective steps by ensuring that no transfer is effected without a substitute,” the representation said.

Stating that education is a fundamental right, the ENSF maintained that depriving students of adequate teaching personnel is unacceptable. It further asserted that the Federation “will not allow even a single teacher to be relieved without proper replacement” and will continue to raise concerns and take necessary steps to safeguard the academic future of students.

As the apex student body of the eastern region, the ENSF reiterated its commitment to protect the interests of the student community and appealed to the department for urgent intervention and appropriate measures to resolve the issue.
