Tuensang, December 27 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has expressed strong resentment over the Nagaland Government’s inconsistent commitment over the creation of the Shamator district.
The ENSF, President, Chingmak Chang and Assistant General Secretary, Molo Phom in a press release said, it has come to the knowledge of the Federation that “there was certain understanding arrived at between the Yimkhiung Tribal Council and the State Government for unconditional upgradation of Shamator ADC HQ to a full-fledged District. However, the agreement which was made in principle between the two parties has proven to be futile.”
It stated that the ENPO during its 25 years of its silver jubilee had submitted ‘a single representation to the government’ for the creation of Shamator district Hq. The ENPO had on August 6, 2021 further submitted a reminder letter to the state Government reiterating its previous representation as submitted at Tobu appealing the Government to declare Shamator district on August 15, 2021.
“The Federation was caught by surprise to see Shamator not in the list amongst new districts which was declared on December 18, 2021 despite all genuine pressure even from the ENPO,” it stated.
Taken into account the long pending issue for upgradation of Shamator ADC hq to full-fledged district in conjunction with numerous representation submitted by the YTC and the ENPO during the two occasions as clearly mentioned, the ENSF has extended unwavering solidarity to the Yimkhiung tribe, and appealed to the state Government to declare Shamator district at the earliest possibly.
