The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has served a 13-days ultimatum to the State Government to take action on its charter of demands regarding the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC).
The federation cautioned that failing to address its demand would compel it to take any form of democratic steps to prosecute the concerned officers/commission who it alleged have “systematically manipulated the 25% job reservation.”
Alleging ‘systematic manipulation’ of 25% job reservation by the officers/commission, the federation submitted the ultimatum to Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio this morning.
Addressing media persons at DUDA Guest House, Kohima after the meeting with the CM, ENSF president, Sepili L Sangtam termed the meeting as a “healthy discussion.” Recounting the events leading to the submission of the ultimatum, Sangtam said “we waited for five months and eighteen days for the government to take some corrective measures since November 2020.”
The federation reminded that it had temporarily suspended its agitation, and set January 10, 2021 as the deadline for the government to fulfil its charter of demands.
“Again even after setting the deadline, the federation was being approached by the State Government citing that a meeting with the Cabinet Sub-Committee will be held any time soon,” he said. As such, the federation kept its proposed agitation in abeyance only to be extended by another month.
Following this, the ENSF met with the Cabinet Sub-Committee on April 9.
While the Cabinet Sub-Committee has been directed by the government to submit its report pertaining to the NPSC within three months for decision of the Cabinet/government, the federation maintained that there was no official intimation to the federation on this matter.
“The federation had patiently waited for three months time, which had attained the matured given time on April 14, 2021, and inspite of the sufficient time being given to the State Government of more than five months and eighteen days, there is still no positive response from the state government” it stated.
