ENSUK demands govt to deliver justice within 10 days

Dimapur, May 23 (MExN): The May 17 incident, where 10 Grade IV employees of CMO Tuensang were detained have now taken a new course as several eastern Nagas’ organisations have branded it as an act of discrimination. The organisations have compared the present case to that of the “bogus teachers’ issue”, stating that the “bogus teachers” were not detained by the authority.

Today, the ENSUK in a press note issued by its President Nyangpong Konyak and General Secretary Y. Shaophen Phom has demanded the authority to deliver justice to those 10 innocent employees within 10 days, failing which the ENSUK will be compelled to take its “own course of action”.

It has also demanded the government to answer some queries related to this issue. “The ENSUK demands to know: Why their case was not investigated by the Vigilance Commission like bogus teachers? If their appointments were forged as alleged, then from where was their salary being sanctioned? What course of action has been taken against those 652 bogus teachers? Why the government is silent about the bogus appointment?”

Inquiring about the issue, the Deputy CMO of Tuensang district said that many people have asked him why those “people were sent to jail” and even verbally threatened him. However, he told those individuals that it is the concern of the department and not an individual.

He said department found error and action was taken simultaneously so people should stop blaming one another but rather work towards how to solve the issue.

On the other hand, the President of ENSUK said that the “eastern people” are always targeted. “...why the government has treated us in a different way? We say law is blind but why law has treated us differently? Why the government is treating eastern Nagas in a different manner and forward people in a different manner.”

Supporting the statement, he said in all the government departments “obviously there is a bogus” appointment but why those ten eastern Nagas were treated in a different way.

Queried about their stand on “corruption”, he said: “...even if we discuss everything automatically it brings back to discrimination.” He also said the ENSUK is keen to find out “who that very person gave the signature and assigned those very posts (sic)”; adding that Eastern Nagas’ Students’ Federation and Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation ENPO supports this issue.

It may be mentioned that on May 17, 10 employees under Health &Family Welfare were detained after complaint was lodged to the Superintendent of Police Kohima by the principal director of H&FW over finding of alleged forgery of signature. The 10 accused are - S.Yanchila Yim, Yantan Chang, P. Asangla, H. Yakhila Yim, K. Hokiula Yim, Chomongliba Sangtam, Lemthrongla Sangtam, Yangsomong Yim, Yangsola Yim and R. Tsuyimla Yimchunger were arrested and then later forwarded to judicial custody. Also, on special consideration out of the 10 detainees, two were granted bail – one H. Yakhila Yim, mother of a two-month old baby and Tsuyumla Yim who is pregnant.
