Kohima, October 24 (MExN): Taking a strong exception on the lackadaisical attitude of the state education department resulting in total loggerhead over the appointment of selected candidates of PG/GT examination 2012, the Eastern Naga Students’ Union Kohima (ENSUK) on Monday questioned the authenticity of the State Government’s stance to the issue, stating “it is highly a time they should reflect both in letter and in spirit what they are for the people.”
In a release the ENSUK general secretary Meyikangzuk Phom stated the present commotion on the appointment of teachers is the handiwork of the State Government and the department concern which they should owe moral responsibility, stating that “stringent and streamlined policy acceptable to all” should have drawn before proceeding with such recruitment drive. Stating that if the teachers are being selected by ‘virtue of one’s calibre’ there is no point of withholding them from enjoying “their due share of right”.
The ENSUK also lamented that though selected teachers from Eastern Nagaland were not party to those candidates that filed the court case on delay of appointment order, yet they were not being issued appointment order till date on the reason of pendency of case in the court and demanded that their appointment orders be issued without delay to avoid any untoward repercussion. Stating that no amount of word could justify the manner in which their rights were denied for the “problem which is truly not theirs”. Stating that if the recent recruitment drive were necessitated on the wake of growing dearth of teachers in the state, delaying to put in place those selected teachers would mean bringing the whole career of the student at stake.
The ENSUK while expressing deep concern on the ongoing agitation asked the teachers not to get driven by any undue advantage. The union also appeals the State Government and the education department to initiate timely measures to remove such stalemate so that justice had been delivered in the interest of all.
