Entrepreneurship opportunities, challenges discussed at Pranab College

Students and resource persons during the Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme at Pranab College, Dimapur, on August 18.

Dimapur, August 18 (MExN): A one-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme on the theme “Empowering Youth, Enabling Enterprise” was organised at Pranab College, Dimapur, on August 18 by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Development & Facilitation Office, Dimapur, in collaboration with Pranabnanda Education Society and the Career Guidance and Counselling Cell of Pranab College.

The programme aimed to create awareness among students about entrepreneurship, government support, financial opportunities and challenges involved in starting and managing enterprises.

Swami Chinmayanandji Maharaj, Advisor, Pranabnanda Education Society, delivered the welcome address, while Dr Santosh Kumar, Principal, Pranab College, delivered the opening remarks.

The technical sessions covered government schemes, district-level incentives, challenges of starting businesses in Nagaland, and financial planning and loan processing, informed a press release from the college.

Kapil Rai, Assistant Director, MSME DFO Dimapur, spoke on “Government Schemes for Entrepreneurs”, highlighting government schemes and support mechanisms available to aspiring entrepreneurs and the need to understand and utilise such opportunities to develop sustainable enterprises.

Jethro Mesan, Functional Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), Dimapur, addressed “Local Policies and District-Level Incentives”, explaining how district-level policies and support could assist young entrepreneurs in establishing and expanding their ventures. The session was followed by an interaction with students.

Aolemba, Proprietor, Country Craft, Chumoukedima, shared practical experiences on “Case Studies and Challenges of Start Up in Nagaland”, highlighting the realities of starting a business in the State and the importance of perseverance, innovation and adaptability.

The final technical session was conducted by Lipokakum, Branch Manager, Central Bank of India, Dimapur Branch, on “Financial Modelling and Loan Processing”. He discussed financial planning, financial modelling and the process of obtaining business loans, with the session followed by a question-and-answer interaction.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Rupa Dutta, Convenor, Career Guidance and Counselling Cell, Pranab College, followed by a photo session and refreshments, the release added.
