DIMAPUR, MAY 3 (MExN): The Eralli Bill Village Council members has expressed its appreciation to all the villagers, specially the neighbouring villagers for extending their moral and physical support while they were trying to prevent the creation of new colony within the village jurisdiction.
The Council secretary in a release said that about 1500 villagers stage a protest and condemned the unlawful creation of separate colony within the village jurisdiction, adding that such proposal for formation of new colony or village without consulting the inhabitants is a new phenomenon.
The situation, however, cooled down after the Haika Lamkang community submitted a withdrawal letter before the end of protest, which was unconditionally accepted by the agitators, said the release. It appealed to every sensible citizens of Nagaland to condemn the attempt so as to prevent the repetition of such undesired or ignorant act in the days to come.
The commotion started at Eralli Bill Village when Lamkang Hoho initiated the creation of new colony called Haika Lamkang Colony without consulting the village authority, and the former put up a sign board at the main road, and also invited MLA and EAC, Chumukedima to grace the function as chief guest and gust of honour respectively. The Eralli Bill Village also thanks the CO of UT-1, GPRN for his timely intervention and for resolving the issue though he was not officially informed.
Meanwhile, the Eralli Bill Village has sought the intervention of the state government in preventing the inauguration of proposed Haika Lamkang Colony with the village jurisdiction. In a letter to Home Commissioner, Nagaland and Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Head GB , Nokul Momin and Chairman, L Momin said that the proposed colony is very much part the Eralli Bill village , and no one from Lamkang community has approached the village authority for creation of the new colony. As such, it said that the attempt of the Lamkang Hoho to form new colony is highly detrimental to the interesr of the Eralli Bill Village.
The Council cautioned that in the event of the state government failure to intervene and prevent the formation of the said colony, the village council shall not be held responsible for any consequences arising out of the issue.
