Kohima, May 12 (MExN): Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition, Kohima Katoho Sumi has requested the public in general and NGOs in particular to “contribute positive feedback to the enforcing agency in the form of information (transaction/transportation) to curb in flow of liquor in the districts and make prohibition a reality and success in the dry state of ours for prosperity.”
In a press statement, the superintendent stated, “Despite lack of manpower and conveyance constraint faced by the department, the Unit has been vigilant, performing duty to prevent, contain free flow of liquor which have plagued the society.” The consignment, he said are usually transported from Assam and Dimapur.
The release further informed that Superintendent of Excise, Kohima Unit performing MVCP duty at Peducha intercepted a vehicle carrying 40 cases of various brands liquor (IMFL), 36 bottles whisky, 276 bottles Mc Rum and 168 bottles beer. The duty personnel led by AIE Lichopi arrested one Paukile, a resident of Khermahal Dimapur. The accused person was booked and penalized for violation of Sec (i) of NLTP Act ’89, it added.
