Dimapur, February 26 (MExN): The Excise mobile squad duty party manning Chümoukedima Excise check gate arrested one person and seized 420 bottles of assorted liquor from her possession on February 26.
According to a press release from K Toshiho Yeptho, Superintendent of Excise and Prohibition (MS) Dimapur, during routine checking of vehicles, the mobile squad tried to halt a vehicle (Mahindra Scorpio) but the driver paid no heed and tried to escape the checking.
The duty party chased the said vehicle and stopped it near Jharpani. On checking the vehicle, they found 420 bottles of assorted liquor concealed in airbags.
The accused identified as one Bensolemla Chang, resident of High School area Kohima was arrested and the articles seized, the release informed. Consequently, the accused has been charged under relevant section of the NLTP Act and the seized articles have been deposited in the Malkhana, as per the release.
Both the accused and the seized articles were reportedly handed over to higher authority for further investigation.
