Excise team seizes IMFL; one arrested

Dimapur, June 22 (MExN): An Excise Narcotic Cell enforcement duty party seized 785 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from a 16-wheeler truck during routine checking along the National Highway 29 at Kuki-Dolong area on June 21.

According to a press release from Deputy Commissioner of Excise (NC) Katoho Sumi on Wednesday, the seizure was made in the early hours of June 21 when the team intercepted a truck bearing registration number NL01AE-0132.

The driver of the vehicle managed to escape under the cover of darkness, the release stated; however, the handyman, identified as Dhaneshwar Wari was arrested. 

“Upon checking the vehicle, 785 bottles of IMFL were found concealed inside the truck cabin and above the cabin head along with the truck load of cement consignment,” the release stated, adding that the arrested person along with the seized vehicle and contraband were taken to the Excise Narcotic Cell Office for further investigation. The seized items were deposited in the Office Malkhana and the case is presently under investigation as per the relevant provisions of the NLTP Act, 1989, the release informed.
